The Sports Illustrated sportsbook (aka the SI sportsbook) is an up-and-coming sports betting service perfect for veterans and new users. It’s available in three states, beginning in Colorado and then spreading to Virginia and Michigan, and is currently laying the groundwork for licenses in Indiana, New Jersey, and Iowa.
- Top tier selection of betting markets and options
- Great daily promotions and odds boosts
- Phenomenal bet building tools
- Clunky cashier experience (deposit/withdrawal screen takes you out of the app and into a web browser)
- Slow loading times
- Should implement stats as a resource
I had never heard of the SI Sportsbook mobile app until a few days ago; however, it’s now one of my favorite sports betting apps. I highly recommend its outstanding features, including great promotions and a user-friendly interface.
This review will discuss the SI Sportsbook mobile app and its software, promotions, features, download process, registration process, betting options, betting markets, payment methods, and customer support before rendering a final grade (so if you only want to get the summary, skip to the end).

Ever since the change in legislation in 2018, Sports Illustrated magazine (owned and operated by the Authentic Brands Group) knew it needed to get into the sports betting industry. It broke ground first in Colorado in 2021. The SI app and website took three years to come to fruition because, unlike BetMGM and Caesars, SI was not already in the gambling space, so they took their time to ensure they had a quality product.
Similar to most sportsbooks, SI Sportsbook offers online betting through an app (available for both Apple and Android users) and a website that can be used interchangeably. It doesn’t currently have any retail locations, and there isn’t an online casino feature; however, I believe retail locations will come as the SI Sportsbook platform grows.
The main things to know about the SI Sportsbook
- Tons of betting markets
- Great welcome bonus
- Well-organized user interface
- Limited availability throughout the country (only available in Colorado, Michigan, and Virginia)
- Unconventional deposits and withdrawal window
SI Sportsbook Software and Mobile Sportsbook App
Even though the SI Sportsbook launched last year, its app and software feel just as good as the top legal online sports betting apps like DraftKings and FanDuel. Look below at the similarities between the SI Sportsbook and FanDuel’s home page, which each feature their promotions, a quick sports menu at the top, and a similar tabs menu at the bottom.
What I believe SI does better than FanDuel is that games are picked for your tastes and previous bet history underneath its quick menu at the top of the screen. At the same time, FanDuel features the most prominent betting markets available (in this case, the MLB). SI’s home screen continues to feature the most popular events, currently live events, promotional SI SportsBoosts (better odds for popular bets), and finally, the most popular betting market.
The reason I like this better is that it gives the user a more tailored experience while also giving them the option to sort through sports through the various menus, such as the quick menu at the top, the tabs menu at the bottom, or the drop-down menu from the top left of the screen.
Users can download the SI app from anywhere in the country and create an account from the app or website anywhere; however, users will need to be geolocated inside Colorado, Michigan, or Virginia state lines to place bets. It’s easy to register for an account (which can be done on the website or app), and it only takes a few minutes and some personal details (see below in the registration process section for more information).
The SI app can be downloaded from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store and updates every few months to improve user experience and fix bugs. You must have a minimum APK of 5.0 for Androids or a minimum iOS of 12.2 for Apple to download to your mobile device.
Some of the best aspects of the app are not only the user interface I’ve described above, but it also has many betting markets and great tools to use for all the bets you place! There’s an excellent bet builder tool, but my favorite resource is the BetFeed which gives users insight into what the public is betting on.
While I believe this is a great tool, I also think a few minor tweaks like adding the ability to comment on bets in the feed, could make it even better. Another minor improvement could entail a smoother cashier window that doesn’t take the user out of the app.
Best SI Sportsbook App Features
- Perfect 10 free bonus game
- Can enable night mode
- Tons of online banking options
Things that Need Work
- Stats, stats, stats! (none available)
- Deposits and withdrawal window
- Minor bug fixes (promotions page doesn’t always open on the first attempt)
SI Sportsbook Promo Code and Offers
The SI Sportsbook bonus offers rivals some of the best sportsbooks in the online sports betting world with several daily and weekly promotions and a solid welcome bonus for the risk. Below is a more in-depth description of its promotions.
Welcome Bonus – Bet $5 and win $100 in free bets
The welcome bonus for the SI Sportsbook is pretty solid for the risk required; however, it doesn’t have that high of a ceiling compared to its competitors. Right now, new users get $100 in free bets if their initial bet wins and is a minimum of $5 with minimum odds of -120.
To get the offer above, go to the website or app and sign up for an account using the SI Sportsbook promo code “WIN100“. The offer is only valid on your first bet and deposit and must be a qualifying bet.
Free bet tokens are credited to your account after the bet settles. Free bets expire after seven days, so don’t let them stay in your account too long!
What I love most about the promotions on the SI Sportsbook is its daily and weekly offers on different betting markets around the sports world. See the list below for more information on their great promotions that provide users with free bets, risk-free bets, and odds boosts on both straight and parlay bets online!
- SI SportsBoosts
- Daily boosted odds on several different parlays and straight bets on popular events
- MLB Bet Insurance
- Get up to $5 back on an MLB parlay bet if it loses (minimum $10 three-leg parlay with minimum odds of +300)
- More for Your Money
- Place a bet on the UFC, tennis, soccer, or F1 racing for free bets daily
- $20 bet on UFC, $15 bet on soccer, three $10 bets on tennis, and $15 on F1 racing (minimum odds of -150 required, only allowed to redeem once per day)
- UFC: $10 free bet/ soccer: $5 free bet/ tennis: $10 free bet/ F1: $5 free bet
- The Big Fly
- Make three or more baseball bets (minimum $10 each) and earn up to $40 in free bets
- Receive $10 in free bets after three bets placed
- Receive another $10 after your fifth, seventh, and tenth baseball bets are placed (total of $40 in free bets per week)
- Make three or more baseball bets (minimum $10 each) and earn up to $40 in free bets
Perfect 10 Free Bonus Game
The perfect 10 bonus game is a unique promotion I haven’t seen on other gambling sites that can be found in the drop-down menu at the top left of the home screen. You must be logged in to an account and geolocated in one of the three legal states.
It’s free to enter and requires users to make ten picks on a slate of games against the spread. If all 10 of the picks you make are correct, you will receive a share of the ten-thousand-dollar prize (split between all winners).
Users can opt into this promotion once each week.
How to Download the SI Sportsbook App
Downloading the SI Sportsbook mobile app is a straightforward process and, as I mentioned above, can be done by both Apple and Android devices. Below are links for each platform that will take you to your respective app stores for an easy download experience.
SI Sportsbook iOS App
If you’re an Apple user and are looking to download the SI Sportsbook, then be sure to have a minimum iOS of 12.2 and 32.4 MBs in free storage and either click the link above or follow the steps below in the app store.
- Go to the search tab
- Search for “SI Sportsbook”
- Select the app with the red SI icon (pictured below)
- Click “get,” and the download will begin
The app has a 3.7 star out of five rating in the app store from customers; however, after reading the reviews, it seems other users are very split, either loving it like me or not liking it at all. While this could be because people are more inclined to leave reviews if they’ve had an excellent or terrible experience, the main complaint seems to be that not many users understand how their deposits and withdrawals work because it takes them out of the app. Still, I’d hardly call it a deal breaker.
SI Sportsbook Android App
Android users will need a minimum APK of 5.0, and similar to Apple devices, it only takes a few seconds to download. Either click the link or see the steps below to download the app and start.
- Go to the search tab
- Search for “SI Sportsbook”
- Select the app with the red SI icon
- Click “install,” and the download will begin
Similar to the reviews in the Apple App Store, the reviews on Android are either love or hate, with most of the reviews being either one or five stars. The main complaint seems to be minor bugs such as lag and slow loading times; however, many mentioned their love for the home page and the Perfect 10 bonus game.
Users in any state can download the app, sign up for an account, and check it out; however, you will not be able to use it without being geolocated by the app’s software in one of the three states it’s available (Colorado, Michigan, and Virginia). Users will also need to meet the age requirements and prove their identity and age over 21 years old to register for an account.
SI Sportsbook App Features
While doing this SI Sportsbook review, I learned about all of the great features its app has to offer its users. For example, there are several different betting features for increased user experience optimization, such as the slider on the betting menu that allows users to change the point spread or point totals more visually (see picture below).
Other features include the single-game parlay builder tool and an excellent interface to sort through your favorite sports! The app also learns your tendencies through the bets you make and betting markets you view frequently, so the “Made for You” section of the home page will evolve over time.
SI Sportsbook App Registration Process
Registering for an account with the SI Sportsbook is very simple, and sports fans can get it done in just a few minutes with a couple of bits of personal information to prove their identity. The process is similar to any of its competitors and doesn’t require additional information other than the norm.
Users are only permitted to have one account and can sign into it on both the website and the app in all three states. If you’d like to register for an account, go to either the website or app and select the white “Join Now” button in the top right corner of the homepage.
From this screen, you will need to enter the following information:
- First name
- Last name
- Date of birth
- Last four digits of your SSN
After this information has been entered, you will need to enter the following information for your login details:
- Email address
- Password (8 characters, letters, and numbers, both cases required)
- Security question (and answer)
- Mobile number
Once you’ve entered all this information, you will need to accept their terms and conditions, and then the website (or app) will verify all of your information. Once the information is verified, users will be redirected to their initial deposit screen, where they can use a promo code (WIN100) and make their first deposit to fund their account and start online betting.
Online sports betting options at SI Sportsbook App
Now for the most important part of any legal sports betting platform, the betting options! The SI Sportsbook has a hefty number of overall bets that will get the job done for 99% of bettors.
It has both simple bets (like spreads) and very complex ones (like single-game parlays) while offering in-play betting, a cash-out option, and even pre-built parlays. Between its excellent betting menu and betting resources, the SI Sportsbook is a fierce competitor in the betting experience.
SI Sportsbook users will be subjected to a juice of -110 on all spread bets, which is the industry standard. Betting lines are released based on the different sports leagues, meaning leagues like the UFC and NFL (that have a lot of time in between events) will be released the day after their previous game/event (in most cases). In contrast, leagues like the NBA and MLB will have lines released about a day in advance.
Popular Bets – The most popular forms of betting on almost every online sportsbook are moneyline betting, spread betting, and point totals. These three bets are next to each event (see below), similar to other bookmakers like DraftKings or FanDuel.
Users can find alternate point spreads and totals by expanding the betting menu by selecting the event to see all betting options. Point spreads are placed on sports like basketball and football that are scored in points; however, sports like MMA and F1 racing that do not get counted in a traditional point system that’s easily digestible and distinguishable don’t feature a spread option.
Prop Bets – Prop bets are found similar to alternate spreads and point totals (alternate spreads and totals are a form of team prop bets) by selecting the event of your choice to expand the betting options. From this page, users can select from tons of different team and player prop options that vary based on the sport.
Sports like basketball and football have more player prop options than baseball and hockey because of the increased number of stats that can be recorded throughout the game, although every sport will have prop betting options. Prop bets can be placed on pretty much anything that could happen throughout an event, so bets can range from who will score a goal/touchdown to whether or not a player will go over or under a certain number of rebounds or receiving yards.
Cash Out – The cash-out feature works very similar to other sportsbooks, meaning that after a bet has been placed, you will still have the opportunity to cash out early and get either all, some, or even more of your original stake back. The amount you can get back changes based on how the event is progressing, meaning if it’s not looking good for your wager, you will have to cash out for less than your original stake (if the opportunity is still there).
On the other hand, if your bet is looking good, you may receive a cash-out option of more than your original stake but less than the potential winnings if you waited for the event to end. The ability to cash out adds extra fun to watching games and can even be gamified with live betting to hedge your bets or potentially win twice!
Remember that the cash-out feature will also take the original juice into account, meaning that sometimes you will be prompted to take less money than your original stake even though the event has yet to begin.
Additional Betting Options – There are many other options, like futures bets, parlays, round robins, and live betting. Let me explain if you’re unsure what any of those are.
Futures are essentially prop bets that are over the span of an entire season or time span rather than a specific game/event. These could range from who will win a championship over the course of a season to which player could win MVP.
Parlays and round robins are similar because they combine individual bets to expand your odds on a wager. A parlay combines two or more bets and compounds your odds, although every leg must win for your bet to cash. On the other hand, round robins combine three or more single bets into several different parlays, meaning that if three bets have been selected for the round robin, four total parlays are placed (one for each possible combination).
Live betting is exactly what it sounds like, betting on an event while it’s currently in progress. Doing this allows users to wait for their perfect line at the right time to strike to get better odds than the pre-game lines.
Mobile App Live Streaming – Unfortunately, the SI Sportsbook doesn’t have any live streaming options now, although I would not be surprised to see that feature added soon.
Sports Markets Available on SI Sportsbook
The SI Sportsbook has a massive variety of betting markets available that many other sportsbooks don’t offer, such as eSports and table tennis. It also offers several different leagues for each sport, making its betting options even larger, with hundreds, possibly thousands of markets to bet on daily.
In total, there are 24 sports offered for users to bet on, with 71 leagues! The list below features all the sports and leagues offered by the SI Sportsbook (in alphabetical order).
- Australian Rules (1 league)
- Badminton (1 league)
- Baseball (3 total leagues)
- Basketball (7 total leagues)
- Boxing (1 league)
- Cricket (1 league)
- Cycling (1 league)
- Darts (1 league)
- eSports (1 league)
- Football (4 total leagues)
- GAA Football (1 league)
- GAA Hurling (1 league)
- Golf (6 total leagues)
- Handball (1 league)
- Hockey (12 total leagues)
- MMA (2 total leagues)
- Motor Racing (1 league)
- Rugby League (1 league)
- Rugby Union (1 league)
- Snooker (1 league)
- Soccer (17 total leagues)
- Table Tennis (1 league)
- Tennis (4 total leagues)
- Volleyball (1 league)
It’s effortless to navigate through all of the sports, whether on the app or the website, by simply clicking the “Sports A-Z” tab in the menu on the left side of the webpage or at the bottom of the app. The app will also learn from your most viewed sports and leagues and tailor the quick menu to your habits to give users a smoother experience finding their markets.
The markets are available to look at year-round; however, they won’t have bets for sports that aren’t in season until the season has almost started. Odds also vary based on the market because some spreads are harder to overcome (like a -1.5-run line in the MLB), which changes the normal juice of -110 to something like +125.
Weekly and daily promotions change based on the sports that are in season (or beginning the season/post-season); for example, they will be running NFL promotions to accompany the start of the NFL regular season.
SI Sportsbook Payment Methods
The SI Sportsbook has many payment methods on its cashier screen that allow users to quickly and easily deposit or withdraw from their accounts. It’s licensed in three states (Colorado, Michigan, and Virginia) by their local gaming commissions, meaning your local state government insures all transactions.
Unlike most sports betting apps, SI Sportsbook will bring you out of the app and into your web browser to complete transactions on their cashier page, which is very unconventional and clunky; however, it performs well overall. It may be the weakest aspect of the app; however, it’s not that big of a deal and works fine once you’ve figured out how to use it.
Below is a list of deposit and withdrawal options, processing times, and minimums and maximums.
|Deposit Option||Min/Maximum||Processing Times|
|Debit and credit cards||$10/$5,000||Instant|
|ACH bank transfers||$10/$5,000||Instant|
|Instant bank transfer||$10/$500||Instant|
|Withdrawal Option||Minimum||Processing Times|
|ACH Bank Transfer||$10||2 days|
|Visa debit cards||$10||3 days|
Just like any other sports betting service, there will be some issues users will experience that may require you to contact customer support. These issues will generally be because of the cashier’s page or geolocation issues; however, sometimes, it will be due to app malfunctions like promotions not working.
If there’s any reason you need to contact customer support, it’s straightforward and can be done by clicking the “Live Chat” option from the drop-down menu (in the app) or by clicking the question mark (on the website) in the top-right corner of the screen. Doing so will take you to a customer support chat where users can get assistance for their issues and speak with a customer support agent.
Other customer support options include a toll-free number for users to call (1-833-451-8003) and an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) for issues that might not be as dire.
Users can also use customer support to add restrictions to their accounts so that they don’t gamble too much and can moderate their spending. If you think you or someone you know may have a gambling problem, please click the link here for more information.
Final Thoughts on SI Sportsbook App
Overall, I’d say that the SI Sportsbook is a bookmaker that needs to be added to any good sports bettor’s repertoire. It has a ton of betting markets and options as well as great features like bet builder tools and the live BetFeed, which allows you to see every bet placed on the SI Sportsbook.
The areas that need work mainly consist of overall app performance, like loading times and the cashier page. The cashier page is pretty simple and works well; however, it would be ideal to keep users in the app during the deposit or withdrawal process rather than bringing them to the web browser.
